Dean has been eager to do some of his own gardening, and got under way by filling two large outdoor containers and claiming a section of the hill out back.
He picked out a beautiful assortment for these planters -- flowers, herbs, even a mini variety of rainbow chard. On the hill out back he's experimenting mostly with low-growing perennials. He's got visions for future gardens of vegetables and flowers, and discussed converting our entire front yard into a series of terraced beds (which sadly cannot be done because the septic system is there).
My son, then about 4 years old, was being his wild self right at bedtime. I said, "no more monkey business!" in my best stern-mom voice, and he looked me gleefully in the eye and declared, "infinity more monkeys!"

This is so cool, Jennifer. What's he planting?
