Welcome, autumn

Another day in the life

Part of my job involves going to school fairs -- bringing all the stuff, setting up the table, standing there to answer questions and encourage people to fill out inquiry cards. These events are always at night or on the weekends, and are inevitably a period of time when the normal laws about how fast time goes by no longer apply....

Mostly business

I took the train from Boston to New York yesterday morning, and will head back home later this afternoon; an overnight trip for work and for just a few little things to fill in my time and make the trip my own. I walked 10 miles yesterday, and just over 5 miles today; New York does that to me.

The friend I love to visit in New York

The very real, actual Winnie-the-Pooh. Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, and Kanga are here, too, donated to the New York Public Library by the Milne family. Hullo, old bear.

Early morning promise

Before the all-day, off-site, advancement team meeting got started, anything seemed possible.

Resilient

I didn't plant this rose. It was here when we moved in, and frankly had the characteristics of a lot of things in this place -- oddly placed, out of keeping with anything else around it, poorly tended, but hanging on. I'd given up after harsh frosts late spring took it entirely back to the ground, but instead of pulling it out I planted some morning glory seeds around it. And the rose is winning.

Fall = baking

 The banana bread against which all others could be judged.
