Dean mentioned to Emma last night that today was Grandparents and Friends Day at his school; she lives and goes to school about 90 minutes away from here. Closer to two and a half hours at rush hour. Somehow she convinced her mom to (a) let her take the day off of school and (b) to given her a ride to our school, and (c) wait a couple of hours for her to have her visit. A real treat and relief for Dean, who would rather not have a day every year serving only to remind him of loss. Sometimes I enjoy being a bad influence on other parents (Emma's mom was a little shocked that I let Dean take off last Friday since the prom was that night and we needed to head down to her town early to avoid the Friday afternoon traffic). Love it.
