Homemaking

Dean takes his last final exam tomorrow morning, and then in the afternoon he comes home with Ken for his winter break. A month! Can't wait to have him back here. Getting ready for our annual gingerbread house construction day, listening to Christmas music (honestly, every day since Thanksgiving), and looking out the window at the snow. Grateful for all the things that make this time of year so precious to me, and reminding myself that it's the briefness of the season -- the fleetingness -- that's inherent in what makes it so profound. We don't live this way year-round; we cannot. We can aspire to it, surely, but it only truly exists in this little December bubble.

A photo a day over at Chicken Blog, too.

In so many ways... homemaking is your gift.
